Kramer, I need some help here. I have one itchy pup. Vet suspects seasonal allergies. The itchiest area on Mattie is her belly. Will you salve help keep her from itching, especially at night when she should be sleeping?

So all I had to do was feed it to him directly. But anything flavored (and taste like "ice cream") usually worked. Also they really need one or two teaspoons per day, for about 7/14 days- anything else is a bonus. But My brood is partial to Stonyfield Farms vanilla and strawberry and ate it as a treat at least once a week. If you want to really have Mattie make a mess, you can freeze it as well :) Quite a few quality dog foods will also have probiotics in them as well. They are usually listed in the ingredients as "Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, Dried Bacillus subtilis fermentation product, Dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product" about a minute ago · Like Without a doubt one of the biggest factors in controlling allergies is quality foods, particularly avoiding certain ingredients like by products, wheat, and soy. The other problem, especially in a tight economy is how to feed our pets in a cost effective way. When I had to first address this issue with Kramer I cooked for him, went the organic route but ended up getting him good food brands (I will go into names in a future blog)
Some clients have been affected by the economy and are not able to go fully organic, or home cooked but its not necessary to fully managed skin allergies. Itchiness....the endless scratching caused by pet allergies.
A simple, cheap and effective short term solution is to use regular unflavored oatmeal available in any grocery. Run it through a blender to make it extra fine, and use a cup of oatmeal to about a gallon of warm water (you can experiment to see what works for your pet, and smaller pets could use less oatmeal and water.) Rinse your pet with the solution, let it stand for 10 minutes and towel off. This can be repeated as often as needed.. |
